Texas Association of Student Councils

The Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) is a non-profit organization serving high school and middle level student councils in Texas. Sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals, TASC is the Texas Affiliate of the National Association of Student Councils.

Its purposes are to develop leadership abilities in students, promote democracy as a way of life and establish and uphold high standards for local councils. Organized in 1937, TASC has grown to serve more than 1400 member schools in Texas. Any elementary, middle level, junior or senior high school, public, parochial or private, may become a member of this organization by paying the annual membership.  TASC also offers Associate Memberships for like-minded individuals and organizations.

TASC understands what it takes to be a student leader and advisor. It's about a desire to make schools and communities better every day. But no one leader or council can do this alone. And that's where our association comes in. We are here to support student leaders and their advisors with training, resources, and connection.

Vision:  A successful community creating a pathway to leadership

Student Council Overview:

A Student Council is a group of elected and volunteer students, working together with an adult advisor within the framework of a constitution or bylaws, to provide a means for student voice and assistance in school affairs and activities, and to give opportunities for student experience in leadership and encourage student / faculty / community relations. We seek to represent and be representative of all students in the school, to build schools where students and staff want to be, and to develop leaders who continually work to shape a better world for all.

Through projects and activities, student councils work to:
