About Eddie G. Bull

Eddie G. Bull, our beloved hero and a legend of TASC, served as TASC Director for 31 years. Under his leadership, TASC became one of the premier student leadership organizations in the nation, which it remains today.

Eddie Glynn Bull, most recently of Bastrop, Texas, passed away on January 20, 2022, in the company of his wife and son. He was 80 years old.

Born in Coleman County, Eddie was the only child of hard-working West Texans, John Edwin and Elsie Clark Bull. The first of his family to graduate from college, Eddie earned a Bachelor of Science degree Magna Cum Laude at Abilene Christian College and a Master of Science in Zoology at Texas Tech University. A life-long learner, he also had numerous post graduate hours in Science Education at the University of Texas at Austin.

Eddie was committed throughout his career to teaching, guiding, and creating life-changing experiences for youth and for other educators. He taught chemistry and biology at Monterrey High School in Lubbock and Andrews High School in Andrews, Texas before moving to Austin. He joined the staff of The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) and the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) in 1974 where he worked on behalf of principals, student leaders, and advisors for 31 years. Eddie believed deeply in doing the right thing and in the inherent value in all people, often mentoring, advising, and encouraging leaders of all ages to “find the good” in everyone and to “do right by the people you serve.” Under his leadership, TASC became one of the premier state student council leadership organizations in the country and remains so today. Countless students and teachers over many generations in Texas and beyond have been impacted by his life’s work, which established influential leadership training opportunities for students and educators across the state and country. That influence remains today. Recently, Eddie was selected by TASC to receive the Texas Star Award, presented to a TASC hero who has provided exceptional service or brought exceptional recognition to the association. The award announcement and presentation was to occur in the coming months. Additionally, each year TASC recognizes an advisor with the Eddie G. Bull Advisor of the Year award and TASSP selects an administrator to receive the Eddie G. Bull Professional Development Scholarship.

Eddie loved food and was a self and food channel taught chef who blended his West Texas roots with more adventurous cuisine to create such delights as his meatloaf quesadillas and many divine pies. He was known for making his own nut flour and his chocolate chip cookies were renowned. He was a steadfast and supportive son, husband, father and grandfather. In his later years Eddie battled various health issues but maintained a quick wit, sense of humor and independent spirit. He was a kind and decent man who will be missed dearly.
